Virtual Try-On for Wix and Squarespace Stores: Your Options

Quick answer
Site builders are friendly until you want a widget that talks to an AI service. Then you find out how much of the plumbing was hidden from you on purpose.
Can you add virtual try-on to Wix or Squarespace?
You can, with three routes: a ready made app, a pasted script or embed, or your own build on a try-on API. Which one fits depends on whether you have a developer and how much control you want over the button.
We build a Shopify app and a WordPress plugin, not a Wix or Squarespace app. Better you hear that now than after you have booked a developer.
How does it work on Wix?
The Wix App Market lists several virtual try-on apps, and ratings and plans vary a lot, so read the reviews before installing anything. Some vendors skip the app route and ask you to open the Wix Editor, add an Embed HTML element and paste their script.
Wix also has a Custom Embeds API for developers who want to place HTML and JavaScript across a site. One limit to know about: Wix forum threads note that you generally cannot change the height of an HTML component dynamically, so a tall try-on result can get clipped inside a fixed box.

How does it work on Squarespace?
Squarespace has no try-on app store in the Wix sense, so most try-on tools arrive as a code snippet. That means code injection, and the plans that include it have changed over the past year. Sources disagree, so confirm on Squarespace's own plan page before you build a plan around it.
Also check where the snippet can run. A product page script is what you need, and a site wide script that loads on every page will slow pages that never needed it.
When does the API route make sense?
Choose it when you want the button to look like part of your store, or when no ready made tool handles your garments well. It needs a developer, and the shape is the same on any platform:
- Add a button and photo upload to the product page through embed or injected code.
- Send the photo and the garment image to an endpoint on your own server.
- Have that endpoint call the Corlen API with your key and start a job.
- Poll the job, then show the finished image on the page.
Keep the key on your server. A key in the page script is a key anyone with dev tools can copy, which is an expensive way to find out browsers are transparent. The developer guide covers the request flow and the docs list the exact fields. The same pattern is explained for another platform in our BigCommerce guide.
What should you check before you pay?
- Your hardest garments: layered pieces, long hems and heavy prints, not just a plain tee.
- Phone upload: most shoppers will use a phone, so test there first.
- Page speed: add the tool to one product page and compare load time before and after.
- Photo handling: ask where shopper photos go and how long they stay. Corlen on the API does not save shopper photos.
Start with the live demo to see how your garments render before any developer time goes in. Our guide to photographing clothing for virtual try-on will save you a reshoot. Then measure the result against a similar period, using how to measure virtual try-on results.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a Corlen app for Wix or Squarespace?
No. Corlen ships a Shopify app and a WooCommerce plugin. On Wix or Squarespace you would connect through the Corlen API, which needs a developer to build the button and a small server step that holds your key.
Can I add a try-on button to Wix without coding?
Often yes, with a third party app. The Wix App Market lists several virtual try-on apps, and some tools install through an Embed HTML element. Test any of them on your own garment photos before paying.
Does Squarespace allow custom code for a try-on widget?
Code injection is the usual route, but which plans include it has changed over time. Check Squarespace's current plan page before you commit to a try-on tool that depends on it.
Where should a try-on API key live?
On a server you control, never in a script on your page. The page sends the shopper photo to your endpoint, and your endpoint calls the try-on API with the key.
